How To Become An Eco-friendly Person?

Volume 7 Issue 1

Inventions like plastic were once the solution to our world. Today, convenient items such as plastic cups, plastic shopping bags, and Styrofoam takeout containers are harmful to our environment.

With climate change, Green living is no longer a choice and conserving resources and reducing harm to our planet are crucial. Eco-friendly products, choosing sustainable transportation, being mindful about what we eat, and protecting our environment have become part of our lifestyle. Eco-living is basically about adopting habits and making choices that make a positive impact on the planet and its ecosystems.

Sip Responsibly, Go Reusable!

Straws, typically made of non-biodegradable plastic, pose environmental challenges for green living and sustainability. Did you know that in the US, a staggering 175 billion plastic straws are used every year, enough to circle the earth 875 times; moreover, it takes up to 200 years for a plastic straw to decompose and in most instances they can’t even be recycled. Safe to say that those single-use plastic straws are a major culprit in the pollution game, and we can do better! A product I came across recently was the Lexngo Resealable Reusable Straw.

Right off the bat, I was interested in it because of how cute it looks compared to the other plastic straw alternatives I usually see. With a resealable reusable straw, we can sip on our cold drinks without contributing to the plastic mess. We can take it with us wherever we go, whether it's to a café, a restaurant, or even a picnic in the park. Plus, it's super handy because we can seal it up when we're done and keep it clean and ready for our next adventure.

Bag the Waste, Choose Biodegrade!

Plastic bags are major troublemakers when it comes to environmental pollution. They hang around for ages since they don't break down easily, causing all sorts of harm to our beautiful ecosystems, wildlife, and even our precious marine life. Plus, those bags can be a real headache in waste management systems. They can clog up recycling machinery and make sorting a total nightmare. Biodegradable bags, on the other hand, are the eco-friendly heroes we need. By switching to biodegradable options, we're cutting back on our carbon footprint and supporting a more sustainable future. However, many companies are not willing to invest as it adds on to their cost and it has only one year storage life. My recent IKEA shopping bag just degraded into small pieces - rather amazing to see how it works.

Time For A Food Storage Makeover!

In Singapore alone, about 473 million plastic disposable items like takeaway containers are used in a year. Hence, it is a sustainable choice to opt for silicone food storage bags or reusable food storage containers instead of disposable plastic bags, plastic food containers, or styrofoam takeout containers. I have chosen to use the Silicone Collapsible Lunch Boxes! As it saves storage space and it is made from food grade silicone & polypropylene.

More Bubble Tea, Happier Planet!

Lexngo Silicone Collapsible Flexi Jumbo Mug is another fun product which is great for bubble tea - a jumbo mug that is made from foodgrade silicone (mug, straw & spout cover) & polypropylene (collar & cover). The combination of collapsible mug to jumbo resealable straw are unique and practical. Love it.

We have the ability to make a positive impact on our planet by making small, conscious choices every day. Whether it's opting for reusable bags instead of plastic ones, reducing our water consumption, or choosing to walk or bike instead of driving, these seemingly minor adjustments can add up to a monumental difference for the environment. So, let's take those small steps together and create a ripple effect that leads to a brighter and more sustainable future for our beautiful planet. We have the power to be an agent of positive change. Keep going, and let's make a world of difference, one small change at a time!
